I'm a graphic designer and web developer based in Hamilton, New Zealand, and a third-year Computer Science student at the University of Waikato. Originally from Wanganui (the best town in the world), I've worked since 2007 as a designer at H&A Print.
And I think you'll love what I do as much as I enjoy doing it! Take a glance at my portfolio below and if it looks like I can help you with something, send me an email. I'd love to show you more of my work and talk through any ideas you have.
* July might be optimistic, however...
University of Waikato lecturer Masood Masoodian defines what graphic designers do as "combining visual material (images, illustrations and text) to create a visual communications gestalt".
I design for both printed media and the web, and have extensive experience with both mediums, meaning I can ensure perfect quality outcomes. It is rare for graduates of tertiary qualifications to be able to fully understand the relationship between screen and paper, but with more than five years of experience as a print designer, I can accurately predict what a printed document will look like compared to on screen.
I made my first personal website when I was 8 years old and still at primary school; taught myself HTML while I was at intermediate school, CSS in my first year at high school, and PHP in the years that followed. I'm now at Waikato University studying Computer Science -- everything that isn't about websites.
I have the knowledge and experience to design and develop premium quality, dynamic websites, with the computer science background to help you manage any or every aspect of your online presence.
Making websites is what I grew up doing for fun, and I know that the skills I've learned are typically not skills you can pick up in a few years at university. The web is a complex, constantly evolving medium, and if you don't live and breathe what you're creating, it's a beast that you won't be able to tame on your own.
I am proud of the degree of precision in all of my design work, and it is particularly important and more noticeable on the web where many technologies are combined to produce an interactive experience for the user. I produce websites that are accessible and responsive -- in both senses of the word.
