The app doesn't actually completely do what it is supposed to yet, but it runs a server (which I can send messages to from the terminal), saves settings, and most importantly syncs all of my contacts with Google. Yay!

As a computer science student living on campus at the halls of residence, one often runs out of things to do while the less fortunate majority are busy writing essays or crunching numbers. Also part of my course, my friend Richard introduced me to the world of Android programming when he thought he'd take a crack at creating an application that would automate the connection via captive portal to the campus ISP, Lightwire (since there is no wireless PPPoE [...]

That's really what Macs are all about, crafted by developers who realise that perfection is paramount. Mac developers entertain the idea that anyone can make something work after enough trial and error, but there is a grand difference between it working and working well. In the artistic world, design doesn't have to be perfect, and on the contrary, imperfection often creates the most magnificent works. Truly inspired art is almost never the result of hard slavery over elaborate details, because [...]

Hi, my name is Brad Christensen, and let's be honest: this is going to take forever. Part of my job is to try to make the process as painless as possible.

I'm all about radical new ideas and deliberately doing things differently, as you can see. And I'm also all about pulling weird blogging topics out of the blue as I am walking to my Psychology lectures with little else on my mind. How fascinating a life I must live. If I remembered the password for my FTP account by heart I would fix my "ab [...]

What use is a blog if one does not enjoy writing for it? The purpose my blog serves is more that of personal satisfaction than anything else. Something to look back on and laugh, or cringe as the case may be. As such, one of the goals I have made as of restarting the blog is to implement several different writing styles - again, for my own benefit, more than anything else - mainly because it's fun. And something even more fun to read in hindsight.

The last post I made was extremely o [...]

Every time I clean: calm.
How I can feel calm while sucking cobwebs into the robot abyss is, surely at very least, questionable. It makes sense though. It makes sense that it doesn't make sense. So beautiful a task to be granted the flattering term of chore, really.
This day, however, no cleaning should occur. Not in the strictest sense of the word.
The early hours of the morning are unfortunately those hours that offer the least distractions. Often the same hours [...]

For more than a few reasons now this looks like an opportune moment to resurrect Bradpad.

First of all, my music playlist just stopped, so I can think again. That is always a plus. I never did understand how it was possible to do things like studying with music playing in the background. Photoshopping is fine as most of the time one as an idea in one's head and the work required to realise that idea is mundane tinkering. Coding is about half way - probably for me because it's enjoyable and I [...]

I'd go back as far as at least July 2008... and before that, I really don't think there's anything. I haven't written anything remotely meaningful here and, it having been almost eleven months since last writing, I think it goes without saying that I don't intend to.

Today however is a small exception, whereby I need to wri [...]
